SUSTAINABLE DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS

Sustainability is an increasingly important driving force for consumers across all industries, and we are seeing clear growth in the dietary supplement sector. Over the past few decades, consumers have become more environmentally conscious. Surveys show that a growing number of consumers believe companies should take responsibility and act swiftly to protect the environment. The environment and global climate are significant concerns for all consumers, many of whom are willing to pay a premium for environmentally friendly or sustainable products.

There has been significant progress among packaging companies in various sectors, reflecting their continued commitment to sustainability and environmental issues. This trend extends to the nutritional supplement industry, with an emphasis on reducing energy consumption, transitioning to cleaner renewable energy systems, and adopting sustainable production practices. These actions enable supplement manufacturers to contribute to a more sustainable future. Plastic, particularly its use in packaging has been a major challenge in the dietary supplement industry. Many companies are working to eliminate single-use plastics, such as bags and bottles, and in some cases, completely banning them. The use of recyclable plastics and more recycled paper has also been a growing trend in recent years.

At DanVitas, we are committed to exploring new and sustainable methods of manufacturing products in collaboration with our partners. We are dedicated to finding the most environmentally friendly and sustainable packaging solutions that ensure quick degradation in any environment. DanVitas works closely with all partners to monitor the entire process—from selecting sustainable ingredients to using eco-friendly manufacturing methods and sustainable or recyclable packaging. We are continually striving to make a positive impact on global climate change by moving in a more sustainable direction.

TOTOX VALUE

The TOTOX (Total Oxidation) value is a measure that indicates the oxidation state of fats and oils, combining both primary and secondary oxidation products. It helps assess the freshness and quality of oils, including fish oils, which are sensitive to oxidation. A lower TOTOX value suggests minimal oxidation, reflecting the oil’s freshness and desirable characteristics. Generally, a TOTOX value below 26 is acceptable for fish oils, with values under 10 considered very fresh.
